Colin Kirkpatrick joined the Law Office of Quintanilla & Associates in 2015. Prior to joining the firm, Colin worked as a legal intern for the California Department of Justice where he researched and wrote legal briefs. He also was formerly employed as a legal intern for KK Properties, a private real estate development firm, where he assisted with matters pertaining to land use and subdivision planning and development.
Colin’s primary focus at the firm is land use, planning, subdivisions and environmental review. Colin works closely with city planning and engineering staff on preparing conditions of approval for land use entitlements and drafting all related agreements, including without limitation, statutory development agreements, subdivision improvement agreements, indemnification agreements, easement agreements and restrictive covenants. Colin also reviews, edits and assists in preparing numerous planning staff reports for the Planning Commission and City Council agenda packets.
Colin assists on a variety of transactional matters, including drafting and reviewing intellectual property license agreements, public works agreements, services agreements, and sponsorship agreements, amongst others.
Colin serves as Deputy Counsel of the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau, providing legal advice on a wide variety of issues, including formation of a business improvement district, trademark law, petitions to Federal Aviation Administration, the Brown Act, and business organization law.
Colin received his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law (http://www.tj- sl.edu) in San Diego, California in 2013. While in law school, Colin worked on an international tax treatise published by the law school and LexisNexis. Colin also worked on the Federal Habeas Corpus Team for the California Department of Justice. In that capacity he wrote numerous briefs to district courts as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on a wide range of constitutional issues. Colin received his B.A. in English from the University of California at Riverside in 2008.
